Brent's back... Kind of

Ricky Gervais was recently in LA picking up a comedy award at the annual Britannia Awards. He had been awarded the Charlie Chaplin Award for Excellence in Comedy; a formidable prize, and was there in person to collect it.

What came next set the internet on fire. Having had a few too many beers perhaps, Gervais seemed to slip straight back into his esteemed protagonist from his hit-series The Office; David Brent. He gave what is arguably one of the funniest acceptance speeches in a long time; filled with Brentisms, awkward pauses, hand gestures, and general hilarity before proclaiming this award ‘officially makes him better than Charlie Chaplin’. He finished the speech by saying he now needed to go and get more drunk.
