Dope Lemon

Angus and Julia Stone. If you like them, keep reading. If you don't, don't bother. If you don't know them, play Grizzly Bear and keep reading.

The brother-sister, Australian duo have produced some incredible music over the years, both together and solo. However, with four outstanding albums to their name, they split off and went solo for a couple of years, both bringing out their own albums. Whether this was a bit of fun, or a drunken bet to see who would sell more records, both albums were excellent. Angus and Julia then went on to produce what is arguably their best-ever album in the eponymous Angus and Julia Stone, which was released in 2014.

However, it is the Dope Lemon experiment that interests me here. Whilst recording and touring for their 2014 album, Angus was jamming along with his mates, recording bits and bobs, writing snippets of songs and slowly starting to grow his side project, Dope Lemon. He wanted to create some music with some of his old pals, and do something a bit different. Thus, Dope Lemon's first release Honey Bones was released and Angus is planning the tour as we speak, expressing his excitement regularly through his Facebook & Instagram pages.

Having recorded the majority of the songs on his own farm, what comes out of this album is an overwhelmingly chilled, laid-back sound, that suits Angus' personality down to a tee and makes you wish you were sitting on the Australian farm, sipping a beer next to the legend himself.
