Leo Tackles Climate Change
Having
finally won an Oscar last year, DiCaprio didn’t revel in the spotlight at the
ceremony and instead used his acceptance speech to push the importance of climate
change in this day and age.
Now,
he has gone one step further and released a feature-length documentary looking
at the issues in depth, exploring the ways in which we need to moderate our
behaviour to have the best chance of fixing the problematic situation in which
we currently find ourselves. Using his celebrity influence, Leo managed to
include some very high-ranking individuals in the film such as Barack Obama and
Pope Francis to further emphasise his message and persuade viewers to act and
realise the gravity of this issue.
In
what looks like an interesting documentary (despite being seemingly hypocritical
given DiCaprio’s celebrity lifestyle), it’s probably worth a watch. Have a look
at the trailer here.
What’s
more, the innovative distribution strategy is something that will become
increasingly prevalent in the domains of both sport and film: it was streamed
on Facebook Live last night. This meant that any member of the public could log
onto Facebook and watch this stream for free. Additionally, for the remainder
of this week the public will be able to watch this documentary free-of-charge
at a moment of their choice. This will probably become commonplace for both broadcasters
and brands due to the huge reach and engagement Facebook can offer, so make
sure you keep your eyes peeled for more exclusive content coming your way soon.
