McAvoy, twenty-three ways
A new trailer for the terrifying Split has just been released, featuring James McAvoy.
McAvoy plays a character who suffers from dissociative identity disorder and who, as a result, has 23 different personalities. The chilling trailer shows the variety of identities that will be on show during the film, including a psychopathic murderer, an elderly woman, and a 9-year old child called Hedwig. Kevin (McAvoy) kidnaps three young girls at the beginning of the trailer before locking them in a strange cellar, leaving them clueless as to what's going on. The trailer is made all the more bloodcurdling by the sudden personality shifts; the girls' attempts to trick the young child personality suddenly thwarted at one point by an immediate, unexpected revert to the murderous identity.
The film looks like it will put your heart in your mouth as you desperately urge the girls to hurry and escape before the unpredictable McAvoy changes once again. As for McAvoy; this is a huge opportunity for a potential Oscar nomination; he has the chance to play 23 different characters in one film, and if that doesn't give you enough scope to show your broad spectrum of acting abilities, then I'm not sure what will.
