Review: Borrowed Time
Having worked on both Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur, two Pixar Animators have just released their own short called Borrowed Time, which they both wrote and created. However, the animators have gone down a very different road from the light-hearted, funny scenes of Joy and Anger fighting in Inside Out. When interviewed on the subject, they both agree they wanted to produce something more geared towards adults, tackling delicate themes that they are unable to look at when working on children's films.
Borrowed Time is a melancholy, moving piece, beautifully created, but heart-breaking. The entire short only lasts around six minutes, but the two animators successfully charge every moment with a palpable sorrow. The piece is already gaining impressive kudos in the film world, already picking up multiple awards, and most likely will be tipped to win the best short prize when Oscar-season approaches.
Have a watch here of the touching film.
