Stranger Things Reworked
Despite being a relatively niche trio, anyone who loves Stranger Things, Daft Punk & The Weeknd is in for a treat.
With Daft Punk’s return to the public eye being slightly underwhelming; a collaboration with the Weeknd in an ok, but not mind-blowing track, numerous fans felt slightly disappointed having not heard from the band for a significantly long time. However, YouTube star Flipboi has revolutionised the song by mixing it in with the retro soundtrack to Stranger Things, and potentially saved Daft Punk’s skin by offering a far more interesting version of the track.
The TV show that took both America and the UK by storm, and which has provoked a whole new range of Eleven-inspired Halloween costumes, as well as a truly cult following, had a memorable, old-school soundtrack, which was part of what made the show so appealing. Every episode began with the recognisable, mysterious, synthesised melody setting up an ambiance filled with tension. This soundtrack is, in fact, about to be released on vinyl in an array of special editions, and fans are clamouring to get hold of them.
In the remix, Flipboi expertly merges the two songs into a piece of eerie, atmospheric music, which delivers the spookiness of the series, and enhanced by The Weeknd’s overlaid lyrics. Have a listen here.
