The Ivory Game
Elephants are the gentle giants of Africa, however, they have been under severe threat for a number of years for one sole reason; ivory. Their tusks are worth huge amounts of money on the black market, and although the ivory trade has been illegal for a number of years, this market is thriving now, more than ever. National Parks are having to fight the brutal poachers head-on and the violence and gang-crime that comes hand-in-hand with this is provking an environmental war.
Netflix have produced a new documentary that goes straight to the heart of this problem. Exploring the ivory trade like never before, spies are embedded in the criminal web whilst filming off secret cameras, and park rangers reveal the terrifying details about dealing with the issue first-hand on a daily basis.
It looks like a fascinating documentary; moving, saddening, distressing, but an important revelation about the need to resolve this inhumane murder of this wonderful animal. Check it out on Netflix on November 4, meanwhile watch the trailer here.
