In timely fashion, Netflix have unveiled the first full trailer for their Barack Obama-themed biopic; Barry.

The film looks at Obama’s youth, the environment in which he grew up, and the challenges he faced throughout his formative years. Growing up with a black father and white mother made it difficult for him to forge his identity and it is something he has openly admitted he struggled with significantly. The racial tension that existed at the time made this even more difficult and someone from his background attending the high-profile schools he did was never going to be in for an easy ride.

It will be truly fascinating to get an understanding of where the American President came from and what he went through to get to where he is today, giving a more human side to arguably the most powerful man in the world.

The trailer is beautifully shot and Devon Terrell seems to embody this identity crisis very well in the brief excerpts in the trailer. Have a watch here, it will be released on December 16^th.
