Basketball street Art

Nike have a long-standing history with the city of New York and their recent campaign New York Made aims to help the city provide high-quality sports facilities for their people, most recently by constructing two brand-new basketball courts. In typically Nike fashion, these courts aren't simply your run-of-the-mill basketball courts, they are a powerful street art statement that intend to both motivate people to play basketball and inspire the inhabitants artistically.

Nike teamed up with Brooklyn-based street artist Brian Donnelly, better known as KAWS, who has a strong emotional link with the city of New York and shows this in the incredible court designs he has created. Trying to reach young people and inspire their love of both art and sport, whilst providing a practical use, Donnelly's two courts are colourful masterpieces. What's even more impressive is the way he has weaved in all the necessary court markings to become a harmonious part of his overall design. Influenced by his own childhood, KAWS wanted to make the kids in the neighbourhood of Stanton Street proud of their local court, and make it a hub of their community.

Check out the awesome designs below. These are some pretty cool courts Nike, good job.
