In an innovative and exciting use of technology, Connected Colours presents us with a futuristic, aesthetically stunning piece of video content using facial projection and recognition.

Initially using facial recognition technology to scan and fully understand the complexion and contours of the girl’s face, the creators are then able to produce the most incredible projection show using her face as the canvas. What makes this even more impressive is the interaction of the projection with certain features such as the eyes and nose, making for a truly surreal yet realistic scene.

Essentially the artists create a fluid facial masterpiece, as the girl’s face contorts, dazzles, moves, changes, warps in and out of focus and colours dance and zigzag across it thanks to the ever-changing lighting projections. The beautiful effect appears like a futuristic form of makeup, which lives on the girl’s face with a creative mind of its own. At one moment, we even see the lights transform into falling tears that pour from her eyelids, before quickly shifting and mutating into a bright blue mask. The fluidity and realism of the projection is incredible, as is the variety of effects on show.
