Optimystic Art

Craig Redman and Karl Maier. Craig lives in New York, Karl in London, yet these two are collaborative artists constantly work together to produce mesmerising pieces.

Their most recent work is currently on show in Guatemala City at Showcase ITCH and pays tribute to the traditions of the Latin American country of Guatemala. The country is rich with culture and heritage and Guatemala City is a hub of Mayan history and art and packed with museums and art galleries. The artistic duo have produced a bright, colourful, vivid carpet on an enormous scale, mirroring those used during Holy Week and religious ceremonies as an appreciation for the vibrant Guatemalan culture. It is an exciting, powerful piece and, due to the brilliance of the spectrum of colours, it is filled with optimism; a theme the two artists are keen to convey as a core element of the Guatemalan culture they have experienced.
