Review: Piper
Pixar animators are simply fantastic.
They have produced some of the most iconic films of our
generation, entertaining kids and adults alike with their aesthetically beautiful
feature films. However, feature films aren’t the only string to their bow and
they have a proud history of creating brilliant shorts that often precede the
feature animation in cinema. Examples include: Knick Knack about a snowman trapped in a snow globe, For the Birds about the politics of
birds sitting on a power line, and La Luna about a family’s trip out to sea, all of which ooze the Pixar warmth
and charm. They are a superb watch and
if you haven’t seen all of them, check them out.
The exciting news for all Pixar fans is the release of a
brand-new short, which came out simultaneously with the new hit feature Finding Dory. For anyone who was
dedicated enough to frequent the cinema for the new Dory adventure, you will
have seen the short as a prequel to the movie, but for all of you non-die-hard
Pixar fans, it is now available online for your enjoyment. It is an adorable skit
entitled Piper, which looks at the
bravery and courage required for a young, hungry seapiper to grit its teeth and
stride into the ocean to find food. Check it out here, it’s very sweet and, as
always, beautifully animated.
Keep them coming Pixar, we love it.
