Stranger Things: Halloween
Stranger Things continue to impress, this time in the town
of Hawkins, Indiana where the show is set.
Brenda Wood; the local newsreader, presented her live Minute by Minute TV show as usual on
Halloween yesterday, until the end of the broadcast, which finished in an
intriguing twist. Without any hint of a change, she finished with two news
stories dealing directly with happenings in the hit-TV show Stranger Things.
First, she discussed a missing persons case; she reported
that a girl named Barb (the fan-favourite, mum jean-wearing, geeky character
from the series) had disappeared without a trace having last been seen by best
friend Nancy. She requested that if anyone has any information, they needed to
get in touch asap.
Second, Wood told viewers that local superstore Bradley’s Big
Buy had been shoplifted by an unknown young girl before showing CCTV footage on
air of supernatural character Eleven wandering past the shelves stealing an “unprecedented
number of Eggo waffles” (her iconic favourite food).
She finalised the report by
telling viewers to avoid Mirkwood this Halloween.
A nice stunt by Netflix, and one
that simply whets the appetite of Stranger Things fans for the release of the
next series. Watch it here.
