El Búho for the Bank
Leo Burnett Argentina have produced some of the funniest ads
we’ve seen for a while and, believe it or not, it’s for a national bank.
Somehow the creatives have made Term Deposit Accounts
hilarious, exciting and entertaining. How?
El búho. Or, in English, the owl. The owl is the historical
icon of the Hipotecario Bank and has been brought to life by their most recent
campaign. The humorous owl startles the characters throughout the ad and mocks
them as they try and hide their cash in the most bizarre places. He proclaims himself
as their “búhociencia” or “owl-conscience” and his deep, throaty voice attempts
to instil some financial wisdom in their heads and stop them from hiding their
money in flowerpots. The tone and personality of the owl is what makes this
campaign a winning formula and it is genuinely laugh-out-loud stuff; the pace
and wit that has been injected is amazing.
It’s an absolutely cracking, feel-good and well-put-together
piece of work, check out the first ad here and second one here. Both equally
entertaining.
Long live the búho and hopefully more to come from him soon.
