Ikea Tackle Divorce
The theme of divorce is always a tough one, especially for
brands, and consequently we barely ever see it dealt with in marketing campaigns. After
all, why would you want such a depressing phenomenon have this sombre effect on your consumers.
However, isn’t this something brands should deal with? Surely
something so common and that affects so many people around the world shouldn’t
be so taboo. If people want truthful, honest advertising, then this has got to
be top of the list.
So, Ikea did it. They tackled it. And they tackled it with
great success.
Producing an advert looking at the effect a divorce can have
on a young child, they innovatively advertised their products by comparing the
little boy’s bedroom at both his mum and dad’s homes. I won’t give anything
