Headspin with Bonobo
Bonobo are back with a new album released early last week.
It’s an excellent selection of their typically melodic sounds,
with various different guests on certain tracks. One of these guests is Nick Murphy,
fka Chet Faker, who performs the vocals in one the best tracks on the album: No Reason.
And it’s not just the track that’s exceptional, the music
video for this song released earlier this week is stunning. A complete
mind-warp, the video takes you on a journey through the house of the
protagonist, except every door you go through takes you into an identical room.
With each transition the perspective changes and the room, despite looking the
same size, shrinks further and further giving a sense of increasing
claustrophobia to the viewer.
The track hauntingly ticks melodically along in the
background, perfectly reflecting the strange and uncomfortable atmosphere of
the visuals. As the track builds, so does the tension in the video as the
character simply becomes too big for the room leaving only room for body parts:
arms, hands, and feet become the only limbs that can squeeze into the small
space.
Amazing cinematography and a mind-blowing track, have a look
here.
