Environmental Joy
“F*** scare tactics, let’s celebrate the beauty of it all”, said the
Marketing Director. At least, this is how I imagine the conversation went when
The Climate Coalition sat down and scratched their heads over their new
campaign.
The new initiative #ShowTheLove went live a few days ago with
the release their short film A Love Song.
The film takes all the past experience of environmental documentaries &
adverts and launches it far out of the window, never to be seen again. Gone are
the days when they show us the catastrophic, destructive effects of our
fossil-fuel-guzzling behaviour. From now on, it seems, it’s going to be a
festivity-filled gala to show us the reasons we should protect our beautiful
and diverse environment.
So, how do they do it?
Well, the star-studded (Game
of Thrones fans will recognise Tywin Lannister and The OA fans will feel a shudder of anger at the appearance of Dr
Hunter) cast comes together to eloquently verbalise a linguistically elegant
piece of poetry. The film intermittently shifts between stunning shots of our
world and the enjoyment it can bring to both the young and the old. The film,
in fact, is produced by RSA Films, owned by the enormously talented Ridley
& Tony Scott and this is obvious from the stunning aesthetic on show. What’s
more, the moody Elbow soundtrack gives a deep emotion to the whole piece.
The result is a stirring and touching portrayal, celebration
even, of our remarkable planet, making the viewer realise the umpteen reasons to
alter our behaviours to ensure its survival.
Have a look here and enjoy.
