Stormzy Smashes Spotify

Stormzy has been a revelation in the last couple of years, bringing the grime genre to the forefront of popular culture and using his chilled, laid-back attitude to appeal to the everyday masses.

Last week he released his first feature-length album Gang Signs & Prayer on Spotify to quite an exceptional critical acclaim. The majority of the feedback has been excellent, a few negatives slip in here and there (a first album is never perfect of course, especially in such an un-critiqued genre), but the response from the public has been nothing short of astounding.  Impressively, every single song from the album, that’s sixteen songs, has made it into the Spotify Top 50, a remarkable achievement, and social media is quite simply loving the new tracks.

To top it all off, his cameo alongside Ed Sheeran at this year’s Brit Awards, during which he performed the remix of Shape of You, was utterly fantastic and performing alongside this type of musician fully proves he is now also shaping modern music alongside the greats.

Check out his album now on Spotify (it’s great) and keep an eye on him, he’s always up to something interesting.
