Aardman Caricatures Clients
Quintessentially British: one of the first things that springs
to mind whenever Aardman Studios is mentioned. I mean, you don’t really get
more British than Wallace and Gromit.
However, their latest piece delves into the world of satire
and, more specifically, targets the advertising industry. And? It’s immensely
entertaining.
Imagine every frustrating client conference call you’ve ever
had, bottle up all of the tiny annoyances and hypocrisies, reminisce on the
chagrins and grievances through which your client puts you, and then watch the
latest piece from Aardman. They have brought all of the hilariously
contradictory nuances of a client’s thought pattern into the spotlight through
their beautiful animation.
In the clip, the agency is told to create something “abstract,
black and white, but with a bit of colour” and at one stage the New York-based
client excruciatingly states: “can we just change everything and go back to
what we had”. As you can see, this video is laughably accurate and
representative of the day-to-day trials and tribulations of agency life.
Check out the clip here and think of it next time you want
to punch your client in the face.
