MENU Photography
JWT Amsterdam have a famously talented chef onsite who
prepares delicious food on a daily basis for all their employees. Now, when you
pair a successful chef with an ad agency stuffed to the brim with creative
talent, you’re bound to get some interesting results. And, that’s exactly what’s
come about with the photography project MENU.
Robbie Postma (Chef) and Robert Harrison (a Visual Designer
at JWT Amsterdam) have collaborated to produce a year-long project in the
making with some quite stunning results. Instead of photographing food on a
plate (something that is painfully omnipresent on Instagram), they
controversially decided to prepare the food on Postma’s face. I suppose given
that the recipes photographed were thought up by the chef, it seemed only apt
and logical to arrange them as close to his mind as physically possible.
The result? Sinister, treacherous, somewhat violent photographs
with an edge. A visually incredible, intriguing yet terrifying project. Coffee and Wine jump out as personal favourites for us here at Qulture.
Have a look at the images below and, if you’re really fascinated,
there’s a video giving some further explanation behind the project here.
