Animal Doodles

A light-hearted and fun illustration project for you this morning. Indian illustrator Rohan Sharad Dahotre has published a set of experimental animal doodles combining his artistic talent with photography found on Google.

Trawling Google Images for some of his favourite animal photos, Dahotre then got creative in Adobe Illustrator adding a layer of sketched doodles on top of the animals in the images themselves. What he aimed to do was to add character and personality to these creatures and give them a sense of individuality and even style.

The result? Well, consequently, many of the animals become somewhat tribal and look like they belong to an indigenous tribe or native community. Dahotre doesn't try to over-complicate his project, creating subtle, aesthetically-pleasing and entertaining images for the world to see. We are privvy to such examples as: a fashionable chameleon in a flowing cloak, a regal lioness sporting primitive earrings, as well as an elegant stork wearing similarly beautiful attire. These are just a few exemplars of course, there are many more for you to enjoy.

It's the simplicity that's genius here; it's refreshingly uncomplex and the less-is-more philosophy legitimately enhances the overall effect of the project. Check out some of the images below and follow Dahotre on Instagram to see what's next for the artist.
