Macmillan's moving message
A moving campaign with a refreshing brand message has just
been released by Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Life with cancer is still life” forms the overriding strap-line
and is illustrated by a series of touching adverts. This tagline is adapted in
numerous ways in the collection of short videos that have been produced by VCCP’s
London branch. “A mate with cancer is still a mate” is our favourite of the
four, showing two mates playing FIFA, winding each other up, and cursing each
other’s luck on the game. The revelation that one of them has cancer is
visually complemented by a series of short, disjointed and painful-to-watch
shots of the journey he has been on since his diagnosis.
The clip encourages viewers that life can still be enjoyable
and somewhat normal despite the diagnosis of this terrible disease, promising
sufferers that they can always rely on Macmillan’s support as well as that of
their friends and family around them. It’s a powerful message and an important
one to ensure that cancer patients retain hope and optimism despite the
difficulties they will face.
